It usually comes with Microsoft 365 Business License, however many users do not know all the different features it possess . Microsoft Teams allows you to make voice calls, videoconferencing, chat, create WorkSpaces and more.

How to start a call from a conversation in Teams?
From your desktop:
You can make individual or group calls to anyone in your organization directly from a conversation without having to host a team meeting. These calls are private and will not appear in any team conversation. However, tickets for these calls will appear in the chat.
- Go to your chat list and click New Chat button to start a new conversation.
- Type the name or names in the para field at the top of the new chat.
- Then click on “Video Call” or “Audio Call” Button to start a call.
Up to 20 people can be on the same video call.
Note: If a group chat includes more than 20 people, the call buttons will be disabled.
If you are not currently in a conversation with the person you want to call, you can start a new call from a command.
- Go to the command box at the top of the screen and type /Call, then type or select the name of the person you want to call.
- You can also start a single call on a user’s profile card. To open it, click your image on a channel or in a search.
From your smartphone:
You can start calls from individual or group chats:
- In the chat list, press New chat button in the header and type a name or names.
- From a chat, tap “Video Call” or “Audio Call” Button. The person you call will be able to respond from the desktop or mobile app.
You can also start a call from a user’s Profile card. To open it, tap your profile image on a channel or from a search.
How to Call a phone number from Teams?
To dial a number from Teams:
- Go to Call Button Calls
- Click Dial a Number and type the number of the person you want to contact using the dial-up keyboard.
- Then click Next Call button.
Important: If Teams is not connected to the Internet, you will not be able to make an emergency 911 call.
Note: If you don’t see the option to dial a number, your organization may not have a call service configurated. You can easily use your Microsoft Teams to make calls using the NextPointe Plans, keeping your business number separated from your personal number. Here are some ways to make a call:
If the person you want to contact is in the contact list:
- Click Contacts, find the person you want to call, and click Call Calls button.
If you have called people before (or if they have called you), they will show up in your call history:
- In History, select More actions Button to the right of the person’s name and click Return Call.
You can also access the Voicemail and call people on that list:
- In Voicemail, select More actions Button to the right of the person’s name and click Return Call.
Tip: To gain access to your dial-up keyboard during a call, go to the call controls and select Keyboard Dial-up
